BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

A committee meeting of the nbovc was held at Easton Park at 11 a.m. yesterday. Present: Messrs Perron u (president), T rueman, Ilornblow, Moorbouse. Christie, Poole and Symons. It was decided to lay down the ploughed area in oil Is, and to again plough, level and sow il down in grass in the autumn, subject to the Council’s approval. Mr Black’s scheme of planting was further discussed, and it was decided to plant the boundary and front entrance, and to suggest that the Council prosecute trespassers, in order to protect the work undertaken. At a subsequent meeting it was decided to accept the tender of Mr Evans for levelling, etc., the old cemetery, the work to be under the supervision of Mr Murray, engineer, and to hold Mr Black’s scheme in abeyance until this work is completed. The following sub-committees were appointed to supervise work and other requirements; — Easton Park: Messrs Trueman, Pool and Admore; old cemetery: Messrs Ilornblow, Christie and Symons; Messrs Perreau and Moorhouse to be ex otlieio members of both committees.

The President’s action in ordering iron gate for cemetery was endorsed.

Several other matters of detail were discussed and settled, and the rneetiug rose.
