SPRINGBOKS v. TARANAKI,
A SCORELESS DRAW
A crowd, estimated at -between 14,000 and 15,000, saw Taranaki draw with the Springboks at New Plymouth on Saturday, neither side scoring in a hard-fought and fast
game, which will rate amongst the
lincst exhibitions of Rugby-witness-ed in Taranaki. The crowd is a re- ' cord for the province. The weather was fine, but the ground soft. When the teams took the Held it appeared that the Springbok forwards, with their extra weight, would overcome Taranaki, but, while the visiting vanguard at once set up a dashing game, handling the ball in tine style, it was soon evident that the Taranaki combination was a strong one, and that the Springboks would be fully extended. The Taranaki forwards infused splendid dash into their work. They used their feet with effect, and with determined tackling held their own. The Springboks play Wairarapu at Masterton to-morrow, and Wellington bn Saturday.
