At the adjourned inquest concerning the death of the illegitimate female child found on June 30th in a dress basket in a room at the l n* iled Service Hotel, Dr. Pearson deposed that a number of wounds were visible on the child's back, and the spinal cord had been injured. In reply to the Coroner, the witness said that the smaller wounds might have been caused after death, but the neck wounds and those on the back were inflicted during life. After the inquest, Hilda Louisa Burgess, aged 16 years 8 months, was charged that, about July Ist, she murdered her illegitimate fcmal j child. On the application of the police, a remand was granted.
