ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT

Tho Borough Road Foreman reported as follows on the workings in (lie borough at Monday night's Council meeting:—

During the past month the road staff have been engaged on the following works: —Carting, spreading and breaking metal, Russell and Clyde Streets, Lady’s Mile, Sandor, and Avenue Roads; patching ruts in Johnston and Duncan Streets; repairing culvert in Russell Street; removing hoarding from north end of Main Street and re-erecting same on council chamber site; cleaning drains, Howan Street and No. 6 Line, and general maintenance. Tho metal continues to come to hand freely. Wo have had 57 trucks to date. The quality has been fairly good, but with a tendency of late lo be too fine for road use. We shall need a great, deal more metal vet, especially on Avenue Road, between Johnston and Spring Streets, and east of Baker Street towards the cemetery. Re footpaths: I suggest that we could form footpath in Coley . Street on the same lines as that in Union Street—a strip'six or seven feet wide sufficiently far removed from edge of drain to make it safe for travelling.”—Report adopted.
