HIGH COMMISSIONER’S -REPORT.
The High .Commissioners cable, dated 9th inst., reads: —
Manila market dull, with downward tendency. Spinners holding to absence of orders for cordage. J grade, May-July to Aug-iist-October shipments, quoted at £36 10s. It is reported that with a view to clearing accumulated stocks of weak fibre from the Philippines, the Government is considering the prohibition of production and grading of lower quality from J down. New Zealand market quiet, with sellers: high points, July-September shipment, £36, fair spot, £34.
