FOXTON STATE SCHOOL
FAREWELL AND PRESENTATION TO MISS RAY.
At the local State School on Thursday* afternoon, the staff and scholars assembled to make a presentation to Miss Ray, infant mistress, as a token of their esteem, and to give her a cheery good-bye. Mr Furrie, head master, expressed regret on behalf of the school at Miss Ray’s departure, and called upon Mr Hornblow, 'Chairman of Committee, to speak on behalf of the staff and scholars, and make the presentation. Mr Hornblow said he shared their regret, in common with the Comrnit--tee, at the departure of Miss Ray* who had rendered splendid service in the infant department of the school for upwards of four years. Miss Ray was an enthusiastic and talented teacher, and had not only well and truely laid the foundation of their education, but had also endeared herself to her pupils, and had made their school life a real "pleasure. Miss Ray had decided to apply her talents in a larger institution, and they all wished her happiness and success. Her standard of conduct had been an example to the little ones, and an influence for good. He then asked Miss Ray to accept, on their behalf, a suitably inscribed gold bangle and box of handkerchiefs. Upon the recipient’s acceptance of the gifts there was a, tremendous outburst of prolonged cheering, which completely drowned Miss Ray’s feeling acknowledgment.
