WHYTE STREET EXTENSION.
DEADLOCK BETWEEN COUNCIL AND OWNER.
At last night’s Council meeting the following letter was read and received from Messrs R. Moore and Bergin, on behalf of Mr F. S. Eas[on, re extension of Whyte Street: —
“Mr Easton has instructed us to reply lo your letter of the 14th instant forwarding amended specifications for formation of Whyte Street Extension. He states that the requirements of your Council as evidenced by the amended specifications are so unusual and extraordinary that he cannot in justice to himself complete the proposed work according to same. He has offered, and is still ready and willing, to form and complete the road similar, to other roads in the borough of Foxton already formed -and dedicated to your Council by Councillors and ex-Councillors. If your Council is not prepared to accept such n ronj in the ordinary course, then Mr Easton will complete the road in that manner and apply to the Supreme Court for a ruling on the ease.”
