POSITIONS OF TEAMS,
MAORI TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA,
Rotorua, June 21
Mr Purata has selected the following Maori Rugby team for Australia : —Backs, Kuru and Mapu (Hawkes’ Bay), Phillips (Marlborough), Pratt (Rangitikei), Peinga (Wanganui), Turea (Poverty Bay), Piman (Auckland), Ati, Iveepa Stewart and Graham (Bay of Plenty); forwards, Parahaimn (Thames), Davis, Gemmell and Ileberly (Hawke’s Bay), Pini ami Tniapa (Poverty Bay), Bannister (Canterbury), Jacobs and Broughton (llorewhenua), Love (Wellington), Kororiko and Marakii (Bay of Plenty).
The team, with Mr Parata as manager, leaves on July 14 from Auckland or Wellington.
The team is to assemble in Auckland, and, before leaving for Sydney, it is hoped to arrange a match against Auckland, The Maoris are duo in Sydney in time to play’ the first match on July 23rd. Dates of other engagements are: July 27, country match; July 30, match in Sydney; August Ist (holiday), match in Sydney.
