ENTERTAINMENTS.

DRIVER'S “SPIRIT MYSTERIES”

The entertainment to be given by Mr T. W. Driver, in the Tcuwn Hall on Mondajrand Tuesday night next will embrace many new and novel illusions in magic as well as include quite a number of “spiritualistic mysteries and manifestations,” entirely new to Foxton, amongst them being the passage of matter through matter, automatic writing, the marvellous table-turning seance, the hand with the human brain, and the miraculous spirit paintings. Referring to these spirit paintings, a contemporary says: “The more you probe this subject, the more interesting does it become, To start with, you are here face to face with a mystery, and in Driver’s mystery of his spirit paintings you see the thing happen before your eyes. Then you are invited to solve the riddle. How is it possible to take an unprepared canvas, and in full view cause a beautiful reproduction of an old masterpiece to appear in lasting colours on its surface? That’ is the mystery, and' it is presented by this master-magician nightly, before a critical and astonished audience. Is it any wonder, then, that “the unknown world’ casts its weird and fascinating spell over us? »Do disembodied spirits exist and manifest themselves to man? Do they, or can they, paint upon a canvas with unseen fingers in a few minutes? View this great mystery for yourself. Witness the ‘phenomena’ from your own angle, and then find a suitable solution —if you can.”
