We regret to record the death of a well-known resident, in the person of Mr Frederick Robinson, aged 54 years, which took, place at his residence, Thynne Street, on Thursday night, after a brief illness. The late Mr Robinson arrived in New Zealand with his parents in 1874, and came to Foxton. lie was engaged with his father in the blacksmithing and wheelwright business. He was subsequently in business at Otaki, Maxwelltown and Patea. Shortly after his marriage, in 1888, he returned to Foxton, and has since resided here. In his younger days the late Mr Robinson was a well-known and successful competitor at athletic gatherings in this and the Wanganui district, and subsequently took a keen interest in local athletic games, when, the Foxton meetings attracted some of the best sprinters in the Dominion. He was a man of generous disposition, and well liked by all with whom he was acquainted. About six weeks ago he was stricken with an internal complaint, and later appeared to be making a satisfactory recovery, but on Thursday night a relapse set in, to which lie succumbed. He leaves a wife and nine children, three sons (Messrs Fred, in the Hamilton post office, Henry, postmaster at Tiraiunea, and Ken, Foxton) and six daughters (Mrs W. Haynes, Marton; Mrs Arthur Haynes, Auckland; Mrs Pentecost, Christchurch; Misses Ethel, Auckland, Hilda, Marton, and Rita, Fox '* ton), together with four grandchildren, to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Sunday), leaving Alt Saints’ Church at 1.20 p.in. for the Foxton cemetery. In common with the Foxton public, we extend our sincere sympathy to the bereaved widow and family.
