WOOL SALES.
The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated Bth instant, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: —
Wool sales commenced yesterday, with catalogue, comprising 0,500 bales Australian, 3,500 bales New Zealand, 2,200 bales South American, all free. wool. Attendance large, and competition was animated, specially from the Continent. Practically all sold. Price for lined merinos on average id higher, and fine crossbreds Ad higher than closing rates last, sales. Other descriptions firm at that level. First B.A.W.R.A. sales to-day. This week's B.A.W .- I!.A. offerings will consist of: — Australian. —Merino, greasy 8,000 hales, scoured 4,400; crossbred, greasy 3,800, scoured 1,150. New Zealand. —Crossbred: Greasy 1,800 bales, scoured 900 bales, slipe 000 bales; reconditioned, 500 bales.
