Correspondence was dealt with as

follows: —

From A. King and C. Turner (P.N.), asking for removal of trees from western side of the Fotxon cemetery for a distance of about 2 chains, as they are a source of dan-* ger to the head stones erected over graves in the immediate vicinity. Also that the roots have a tendency to displace and break the concrete around the graves.

The Council decided to call applications for the removal of trees in the cemetery, 14 in all, on the western boundary.

From «J. Parker, application fot* another horse for sanitary use, as the present one is not reliable.—Decided that another horse be purchased for the sanitation cart.

From the Kairanga County Council, asking support of the following resolution: —That the Halt County Council be asked to approach the Government- to make use of unemployed labour in improving the Packakariki Hill Road, and that other local bodies interested be asked to support this, and notify the Hutt Countv Council. —Received.

From the AVailii Borough Council,, asking support- of the following resolution That this council enter its emphatic protest against the Government prohibiting the importation of gas cookers to the Dominion, which action it is considered will heavily penalise councils owning works, and the consumers of gas. At the present time this council has orders for numerous gas cookers, and it is found that even without the prohibition of importation the price of gas cookers is already almost prohibitive. It must necessarily follow that gas cookers will become dearer, and a population such as that of the W'aihi Borough, which is essentially a working population, will lie debarred from purchasing such articles. The Council expressed a wish that the Foxton Borough Council would give this matter a serious and favourable consideration, and that it would protest to the Minister of Customs—Decided that the Council support the resolution.

From the Manager of the Foxton Branch of the Bank of New Zealand, stating that he had been instructed by the head office to advise the Council that the minimum overdraft rate of interest on the ordinary current accounts of all local bodies is to be 7 per cent, as from June 2nd, 1921 Received, From iV. Hobbs, asking what the Council intends doing about Nye Street. —Decided that the proposal that the Council should form and metal Nye Street cannot he entertained, in view of the heavy expenditure already incurred on the ratepayers, and on account of work of a more urgent, nature requiring to bej done.

From the Willard Home, thanking the .Council for the generous heii) given them last year, and stating that any help the Council could give would be greatly appreciated.—Decided that a donation of £5 he mado to the Willard Home.
