BREACH OF THE FOODS AND DRUGS ACT.

The Health Department has proheeded against a number of cordial manufacturers throughout the district for using saccharine in the manufacture of lemonade. At the local S. M. Court yesterday, before Air J. L. Stoul, B.Ah, A. Stevenson, local cordial manufacturer, was similarly proceeded against. Ah' Bergin, who appeared for defendant, pleaded guilty, and stated that, defendant laid used saccharin with the sugar only at the time of the sugar shortage, and had lie not done so he would have had to close down. Defendant was convicted and fined £2 10s, costs 7s, and 10s 6d for analyst's certificate.
