YOUNG MEN’S CLUB

There was a fair attendance at the weekly meeting of the above, held in All Saints’ schoolroom on '“7 Tuesday night. The president, Rev. W. Walton, delivered a very inters esting address on “Hereditary and Environment.” The speaker gave an outline of the subject adapted to the understanding of the younger members of the club, and illustrated his lecture with many examples gleaned from his own experiences in London. He was of the opinion that man was not a slave to heredity, but was capable of adaptation to any environment. His experiences showed that. He also explained that men possessed of clever criminal tendency would, under other circumstances, be leaders perhaps, or geniuses of mankind. He instanced several cases of reversion. Christianity played an important part in counteracting evil tendencies. At the conclusion of the address several of those present congratulated the speaker upon the masterly way in which he had dealt with the subject, and said the boys were fortunate in being afforded such opportunity for intellectual advnncement.
