PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The monthly committee meeting of the above Society was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Barber (chairman), J. Burr, Hornblow, Huntley, Podmore, Tunnicliffe, Mrs McMurray, Miss Sewell, and the Secretary (Mr Trueman).' Apologies for absence were received from the Mayor, Messrs McMurray (whose name was inadvertently omitted as a member of Committee elected at the-annual meeting), Thomson and Mrs F. Robinson. Several applications for loans were received, and applications for relief dealt with. It was decided to compile a complete list of all the local returned soldiers. It was reported that the fund for disbursement was upwards of £3,000 (including money on loan).
