PRICE OF MATCHES

The price at which matches are being retailed in the Wellington district has been the subject of investigation by the Wellington Prices Investigation Tribunal. It was found that many .tobacconists and other retailers have been selling slides at 3d per box. The price is considered by the tribunal to yield an unreasonably high rate of profit, and at a recent meeting it was decided that the fair price of slides is 2Ad per box, and is notifying retailers accordingly.
