WEDDING.
POLLOCK—BROWN
There was a large attendance at the local Salvation Army Hall yesterday morning to witness the marriage ceremony of Mr W. Pollock, farmer, of Taikorea, to Beatrice Louise, second daughter of Mr and Mrs P. W. Brown, of No. 1 Line, Foxton. The nuptial knot was tied by Brigadier Toomer (Divisional Commander). The bride, who was given away by her father, was dressed in white silk, and was attended by her sister, Amy, as bridesmaid, while the bridegroom’s brother officiated •as best man. The platform was tastefully decorated for the ceremony, and the devotional exercises were of a very impressive character. After the ceremony, upwards of 100 relatives and guests were entertained at Perreau’s rooms, where the breakfast was held. Happy and felicitous speeches were made by the Mayor (Mr John Chrystall), Messrs W. Hart, Sansoin (step-father of the bridegroom), Captain Tong, and the bride’s father. The bride and bridegroom suitably responded. A number of congratulatory telegrams from friends of the happy couple in different parts of the Dominion were read by the best man. The wedding gifts were numerous, and included several substantial cheques. Mr and Mrs Pollock left by motor car for Napier, where the honeymoon will be spent, after which they will take up their residence at Taikorea. The “Herald” joins with the couples’ many friends in wishing them health and happiness.
