SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
APPOINTING A CARETAKER
A special meeting of the local State School Committee was held cm Tuesday night for the purpose of considering applications for the position of school caretaker at a salary of £IOO per annum. There were present: —Messrs Ilorublow (chairman), Geo. Coley, W. Nye, M. Pe'rreau, C. Pearson, Jno. Loss, P. Robinson, F. D. Whibley (treasurer). and the head teacher (Mr Furrie). An apology for absence was received from Mr A. Stevenson.
There were seven applications for the position, and it was decided to make the appointment by ballot, each committee man to select three applicants in order of preference, and to take a final ballot from those highest on the list. The choice fell upon Mr Tlios. Henderson, who was appointed to the position, and will take up his duties immediately.
