WOOL, SKIN, HIDES AND TALLOW SALE.
Levin and Company, Limited, report as follows: — We held a sale on Thursday of hides, skins, etc. Smaller catalogues than usual were submitted, and although there was. a fair attendance of buyers, biddings, for the majority of lots were restricted.
Sheepskins. Best crossbreds showed a firming tendency at last sale’s quotations, whilst other descriptions were difficult of sale. We quote: —Half-bred, Id; fine crossbred, 2;{(1 to 4d; medium , coarse crossbred, lid to 2id; short to half wools, Id to 2jd; lambs, 2ld to 3d; dead and damaged crossbred,' Id to lid; inferior and badly damaged, jd to Id; pelts, Id to lid; damp, salted and green, 9d to 2s 3d; pelts, salted, 3d ,to Is; lambs, salted, 3d to Is Id.
Hides. —As compared with last sale prices, light ox and cow showed an advance of from id to Id pei lb., whilst medium were Id per lb. dearer. Well-conditioned heavies about on a par with late rates. Kip and yearling showed Id to lid per 11). advance. Calf slight improvement in sellers’ favour. We quote: Ox, heavy. 59 lbs. up. B:,‘d to 9gd; ox, medium, 50-58, Ijd to 7:fd; ox. light, 19 and under. 2.}<l to 4|d; cow, heavy, 551 bs. and over, lid to SJd; cow, medium, 42 to 54, 2}d to 5.1 d; cow, light, under 42, 2d to sd; cut, slippy and inferior, Id to Sd; bull, stag, Id to lid; yearlings (11 lbs. to 32 lbs), 2d lo 8Id; calf, superior (uj) to 1.0 lbs.), 85d lo 12Ad; calf, medium to good (up to 10 lbs,), 8d to 12d: calf, damaged (up to 10 lbs.), 2grl to sld. Tallow. —Unchanged. In casks, 14s to His; in tins, etc., 12s to 15s. Sundries. —Rabbit skins, 2d; hor-se-hair, 9d to 17d; tails, 10<1. The next sale will be held on the 20111 Way, 1921.
