An elderly man named Joshua Cull, a gardener by occupation, committed suicide at his residence, Norbiton Road, at about 9 o’clock this morning. A Martini rifle was lying alongside the body. She immediately communicated with neighbours, who summoned Dr. Mandl and the police, hut life was found to he extinct upon their arrival.
The body’ of deceased was fully dressed, and was removed to the morgue pending an inquest. Deceased was a married man, and leaves a wife and five children. It appears that for some time past the deceased suffered ill-health, and was somewhat dispondent. He had been an employee of the Palmerston Borough Council prior to taking up his residence in Foxton some months ago.
An inquest will be held at the local Courthouse at 10 a.m. on Monday.
