Sir. —I notice in your last issue that several new aspirants are offering themselves for Council honours. Well, Sir, I hope that our esteemed townsman and bandmaster, Mr John Golden-, will be among the new blood. If he were successful at. the poll, the Band would get a fair deal instead of being starved and ridiculed as it has been by the present Council. The Mayor is supposed to he musical, hut he hasn’t shown much sympathy with the Band or encouraged young players. 1 think that the Band is a deserving institution, and if players are prepared to give up their time to provide enjoyment and pleasure for the residents they should be assisted by the Council. But to he treated as they have been by the Mayor and Council is the essence of meanness. I hope Mr Golder will be a candidate, and 1 am sure he would get the support of lovers of music who wish to make our band a credit to the town. —Yours, etc., INTERESTED.
