LONDON MARKET.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 29th inst., from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Meat. —No material change in the market. Chilled beef realised maximum prices, but frozen in large supply at previous quotations. New Zealand light weight mutton and lamb selling freely at maximum price of 9d and Is Id per lb. respectively. Butter. —In fair demand, but market quiet. Buyers waiting to know price at which Government stock will be offered for sale. Cheese. —Market quiet, and easier tendency. Canadian white £7 10s to £7 16s per cwt, (Is 4cl to Is 45d per lb.), coloured £8 to £8 2s per cwt. (approx. Is old per lb.). New Zealand white £7 2s to £7 4s per cwt. (Is 3d to Is 3!d per lb.), eolonred*£7 18s to £8 2s per cwt. (Is 45d to Is 5d per lb.).

Wool. —Bradford market continues dull, and values in tops, yarn and piecegoods tend downwards. Present quotations for tops are 54’s (merino) 3s 4d, 56’s (super half-bred) 2s sd, 40’s (coarse crossbred) prepared, Is 2>}d per lb. Fruit/ —Present supply consists chiefly of Oregon apples, which is selling up to £1 2s Cd to £1 4s per case of 40 lbs., on account of Easter demand. Pears, only South African available, realising 3s to 5s per dozen,
