BOWLING

The Manawatu Bowling Centre's annual Easter Tournament was commenced on Friday, and continued on Saturday and yesterday, when the section play was concluded. The semi-finals and final are being played to-day. Sixty rinks took part in the play. «Foxton was represented by one rink, Walker, Roore, F. Whibley, Nye (s), and their record was two wins and seven losses. The following are the details of the games in which the “ Foxton players took part, Foxton’s score being given first in each instance :

Terrace End: Snell, Campbell, Kankin, Patou (s), 14—20. Victoria: Thornley, Stevens, Forsette, Bolton (s), 16 —15. Palmerston: Kerslake, Jackson, Michie, Trott (s), 17—24. Carterton: Hart, Hughan, Smith, Whyte (5),‘14—17. Pahialua: Sinclair, Wakeman, Carlton, Ilewat (s), 16 —26. Woodville: Goldfinch, Aim, Gruinlinton, James (s), 18 —20. Daimevirke: Hendry, Rankin, Miller, Bissell (s), 20—14. Manawatu: Jones, Fustier, Braekenridge, Laurenson (s), 16 — 26.

Palmerston: Mowlem, Bilderbeck. Hancock, J. A. Nash (s), 16—20. % The section winners were as follows : A. —AY. AY. Jones, D. Fas tier, J. Braekenridge, F. Laurenson (s), Manawatu, 5 wins.and one loss. B. —J. Sharman, P. Stuart, Livingstone, AY. J. B. Jolly (s), Palmerston N 8 wins and one loss. C. —G. Prince, A, Manning, A. Ferguson, Wylie (s), Newtown, and J. Sutherland, AY. Bartlett, H. Herbison, L. Naylor (s), St. Leonards, Hastings, D. F. C. Turner, J. 11. Carruthers, AY. Duff, A. Duff (s), Eketahuna. The draw-for to-day’s play was iys follows: — First round: Laurenson v. Jolly. Duff,Naylor and Wylie b\>s. Second round: Duff v. AA'ylie, and Naylor v. winner of first round. Final: Winners v, winners, and . losers v. losers. In the first round Laurenson beat Jolly by 22 points to 11, the last two heads not being played. In the second round Wylie was two points ahead of Duff at the luncheon adjournment, and Laurenson had a good lead on Naylor.
