JANUARY WORKING,
The amo’unt of gas manufactured during the month of January was 601,200 ft., which, with the amount in holder on January Ist, made a total of 018,200 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 194,000 ft., for cooking and heating 180,500 ft., and for power 139,700 ft., 16,300 ft. was used in the street lamps, 23,200 ft* at the works and manager’s house, and ; here was 14,000 ft. in the holder on February Ist., leaving 50,500 ft., representing a fraction under 84 per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. Fiftyfour tons of coal wus carbonised, yielding 11,300 ft. per ton. The earnings for the month totalled £320 14s Id, and the expenditure £341 8s lOd.
MANAGER’S REPORT. “The amount of gas manufactured for the month of February was 408,600 c. ft., an increase of 25,100 e. ft. over the corresponding period of last year. The number of meters not registering this month totals 5. During the month 12 meters were changed, and this effected a saving of 9,900 e. ft. of gas, which represents the sum of £5 2s Od. Niue services have been cleared of water and sand, and all the slot meters have been readjusted. The new bidder has been partly painted, and good progress is being made with the new purifyer.
