SHANNON WINS TRIANGULAR
SHIELD
' - The final round in the Triangular |Shiel fl ute.st between the Shanr/vvp and Foxton Clubs was at Levin yesterday afterwhen two rinks each from Hnannon and Foxton played four teams. Of the matches played yesterday, Foxton and Shannon each won one and lost one, and Levin had two losses and two wins. The following are the details of the play :
Roach (s) 17 Clements (s) 15 Farther (s) 1!) Suhan (s) 24 The aggregates scored by each Club in this competition this season were: Shannon 108, Levin 158, Foxton 141, and Shannon thus won the Shield, and is entitled to hold same until next season.
At the conclusion of the games Mr F. Roe, president of the Levin Club, congratulated the winners on their success, and presented the Shield to them. He said he was glad to see that after three years competition each Club had held the trophy in turn. On his call, three cheers were given for the winners. Mr Murray, president of the Shannon Club, briefly replied. A pairs tournament will be held on the Shannon green on March 17th (St. Patrick’s Day), and at Levin yesterday Mr Murray extended an invitation to the Foxton and Levin Clubs to be represented by two pairs each. A rink from the Ekctahuna Bowling Club, consisting of Turner, Carruthers, W. Duff and A. B, Duff (s), visited Woodville on Saturday to play a match for the Dixon Cup. The local rink easily stalled off the challenge, the final scores being 22 —ll. Bly, Bannerman, Lyon and Wardrop (skip) represented the winners.
