MOUTOA NOTES

The annual school picnic was held on Friday, 251 h inst., in Mr Carter’s grounds. A most enjoyable time was spent hv the large number present, old and youg taking their part in the various games. The Committee had erected swings in various parts of the bush, and, needless to say, these were well patronised. There was an abundance of edibles, and the ladies were kept busy in attending to the wants of the inner man. The residents had contributed liberally to the picnic fund, and so each child received a handsome hook and a useful present.

In the afternoon a sports programme was carried out. Towards this trophies had been presented by Miss Dunekley, Mr Ryder, Mr Hook, Mr Fargher, Mr Moffatt, Mrs Parkes, Mrs Aldersey. Mrs Vaughan, Air Schwass, and Airs Upton. Sweets were donated by Airs A alls and Aliss Alain.

Mrs R. J. MolTekey was the winner of a cake presented by Mrs Lampp. Young men’s race. —J. Williams 1, L. Pigott 2, D. Piper 3. Young ladies’ race (No. 1. Aliss M. Shaw 1, Aliss E. Shaw 2. No. 2. —Miss A. Duncan 1, Aliss A. Spring

Married Ladies’ Race (No. 1). Mrs Whitlow 1, Mrs Ansen 2. No. 2. —Mrs Davey 1.

The following pupils won special prizes:—Std. VI.: K. Spring and A. Gingell (Collinson ancT Cunningliame’s). Std. V.: Poss Upton (Mi Kelly’s), Tom Spring (Mr Galland’s), J. Reid (Mr .Healey’s). Std. IV.: Grace Blair (Mrs Spring’s). Std. III.: V. Pigott (Mrs Spring’s), L. Triggell (Mr Galland’s). Std. H.: M. Larnpp (Mrs Kelly’s), 11. Lash (Mr Brock’s).. Specials' given by Miss Foruo were won by Minnie Lampp, Muriel Prior, Jack Campbell and Nita Pigott, Mr Kelly (chairman) thanked all those who had assisted in making the picnic so great a success. He also took -the opportunity of presenting the staff with tokens of esteem. Cheers were given for the teachers and for the ladies. Two handsome books, presented by Messrs Veitch and Allan, are to he competed for during the coming year.
