GRUESOME DISCOVERY.
SIGNS OF 'A VIOLENT SUICIDE. - Taihape, Feb. 28. Thg remains of a man have been found on the bank of the Hautapu river, half way between Waiouru and Hiliitalii. The body was iu an advanced stage of decomposition, and probably, the man bad been dead for about two months, The body was unidentifiable, and no one has been reported to be missing. Deceased was an elderly man, with grey hair, and going bald. It is believed to have been a case of suicide. He had undressed, leaving his clothing aside, and the lower part of the body was shattered as though death had resulted from an explosion of gelignite. A length of spent fuse was near the body. . The clothing comprised a light grey sports suit, medium grey trousers, dark grey vest, old fawn overcoat, dark grey cap, and light watertight hoots. In the coat pockets were two plugs of gelignite and two detonators. The inquest lias been adjourned till March 9th.
