CARNIVAL NOTES.
ALL QUEENS. ' Sports, Fibre and Citizens’ Queens have very fine dressed windows in "Main Street at The Native and Farmers’ Queens windows are in the course of dressing. The queens’ art union prizes also make a very fine display in Mr -'A-i n d o \v. NATIVE QUEEN. A very large meeting of the Natives was held on Saturday, when ■_ final arrangements were made for their big effort. The poi-poi badge become very prominent during last couple of days. FARMERS’ QUEEN. The above Queen Committee meets again on Wednesday evening, at 8 o’clock, when final arrangements will be made for their shop dav next Saturday. FIBRE QUEEN. For their entertainment in Iho Town Hall to-morrow night the above committee promise a firstclass evening’s fun. The pillowfight should be a source of enjoyment ot all. SPORTS QUEEN. The dance to be held to-night should be a success. Catering, music, floor and arrangements are all excellent, and from this live committee some more original stunts are hourly expected. This committee wish to heartily thank all donors for goods and money for their recent successful shop day. CITIZENS’ QUEEN. A meeting of the Citizens’ Queen Committee was held in the Town Hall last night. The Mayor (Mr J. Chrystall) took the chair. It was decided to hold a garden party on Friday next, at 2.30 p.m., in Victoria Park. I The shop day is arranged for Saturday, March 12th, and bids fair to be a great success. The ladies present undertook the work of organising various events of interest. Mrs Pearson, in conjunction with Miss Heasman (the queen candidate) will act as convener of meetings. The gentlemen present all promised to hold themselves’in readiness for any services'
required. Euchre parties and dances nro also being arranged, which will prove successful if the enthusiasm of the Committee is any criterion. Art Union and voting tickets were distributed amongst those present. Twenty-two people were present, and all were keen to work hard to place the Citizen’s Queen where she should be—“at the top of the poll.”
