'DECEMBER WORKING

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of December was 508,400 ft., which, with the amount in holder on December Ist, 16,000 ft., made a total of 524,400 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 156,400 ft., for cooking and heating 182,000 ft., and for power 79,800 ft., 19,400 ft. was used in the street lamps, 23,000 ft. at the works and manager’s house, and there was 170,000 ft. in the holder on January Ist, leaving 46,800 ft., representing a fraction under nine per cent, of the output, unaccounted for. Forty seven tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,800 ft per ton.

The expenditure was as follows: —Coal £llO 14s 7d, salaries, wages and labour £54 4s 3d, pipes (services) £4 8s od, (mains) £6 Is Sd, fittings £6B 9s 3d, meters £6O 13s 4d, tools 5s 3d, cement pipes £7 11s Bd, working expenses £1 7s 9d, engine repairs and oil £5 2s Od, interest and sinking fund £59 11s 8d; total, £378 9s Lid.
