THE PRIME MINISTER’S VISIT TO ENGLAND.
LABOUR LEADER ASKS FOR INFORMATION.
Mr IT. E. Holland, M.P., leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party, telegraphed from Westport to the Prime Minister, asking him to supply every member of Parliament, immediately, with a copy of the cable which he has received from Mr Lloyd George, and which has influenced Cabinet to convene Parliament on 10th March, to decide whether Mr Massey shall proceed to England for the Imperial Conference. In his telegram Mr Holland urges that members shall lie in a position, when Parliament meets, to fully discuss the matters covered by the invitation, and to be dealt with by the Imperial Conference.- Mr Holland has (states a press message from Westport)‘ received the following telegram from the Prime Minister: —“In reply to your telegram, the cable message from the Prime Minister of England is secret and confidential. In ail probability I shall get permission to publish it later, but until such permission is obtained the message must be regarded as not for publication.” Mr Holland deprecates I lie reply, stating that wlnit is shown to certain pressmen ~ every member of Parliament is entitled to know, and, over and above either pressmen or Parliamentarians, the people had a right to know the reason for tbe urgent invitation and to what they were likely to be pledged
