CRICKET.

A moderate attendance, only were present at the meeting held lii.-'t evening to consider ways and means of obtaining material for practice purposes for the remainder of this season. It was decided, however, to obtain the necessary material forthwith, and to canvass probable players to contribute towards the purchase of same. Ihe matter of arranging a team to visit Levin shortly was left in the hands of Mr Furrie, who will also make final arrangements with the Levin team as to the exact date of the match. Mr Furrie will be pleased to receive intimation from anyone desirous of following the sport either for Wednesday or Saturday play, so that lie will be in a position to proceed with any arrangements that may be warranted. On Saturday afternoon a practice strike will be held on the Victoria Park pitch, when it is hoped all who can do so will be present and put in a bit of practice.

It is quite possible to arrange several matches yet this season with adjacent clubs, both for Wednesday and Saturday play, if local cricketers will only get into touch with one another and make the necessary arrangements. A few matches this year will give a fillip to next year's prospects, and with the general revival of enthusiasm in cricket that is expected generally throughout the Dominion, next season should see Foxton well established in cricket circles in this district. It is intended to inspect Easton Park grounds, and see if a good pitch can be obtained there, and if so same will be taken in hand forthwith, subject to the consent of the Borough Council.
