PEARCE DIVORCE CASE.

Wellington, Feb. 4

The Pearce divorce case'and th§ complications ensuing from the departure of respondent, George Pearce, ex-member of Parliament tor Patea, with his daughter, Hazel, allegedly in direct contravention to orders of the Court, was finally disposed of to-day. Air Alyers, on liehalf of Margaret Pearce, made an application for a decree absolute. The Chief Justice assented, and Air Alyers applied for the custody of one of the daughters, a minor, on the understanding that the girl should be entitled to spend alternate week-ends with the elder sister at the father’s house. The Chief Justice agreed, and Air Myers said with regard to alimony that Pearce had made provision in a manner satisfactory to petitioner, and it. therefore, was not necessary to ask for an order. Air Treadwell said that if His Honour considered Pearce had directly or indirectly infringed the rights of the Court lie, on behalf of Pearce, wishes to express sincere regret. The Chief Justice accepted this, and said the sole reason (he issue concerning tlm charge of contempt of court had been raised was to enforce the civil rights, and these being satisfactorily settled, and defendant having expressed regret, he did not think it necessary to say anything further.
