ALLEGED CONTEMPT OF COURT.

MAGISTIUTE’S complain® AGAINST LAWYER.

Auckland, Feb, 3. Mr J. 'F. W. Dickson, barrister and solicitor, appeared before Mr J. W. Boynton, S.M., on a complaint by Mr Poynton that, on January 25th, in a civil case, defendant wilfully insulted the Magistrate by using offensive, .insulting, and contemptuous words, thereby being guilty of contempt of court. Dickson argued that the Magistrate, by not dealing with an alleged offence at (lie time, lost jurisdiction in the matter, but denied that he was guilty of wilful contempt. Mr Poynton said.he had adjourned the matter as he hesitated to send,Dixon to prison or impose a line without giving him another opportunity to apologise, but Dickson persisted in the stand he had taken up. Mr Poynton adjourned the ease for a week for further consideration.
