J, Furrie skipped the local eleven, and Keys the visiting team. The Foxton bowling was done by Reeve, Hirini, Procter, Westwood and Mercer. For Levin, Patrick, W. Clark,

Keys, Williams, E. Clark and O’Connor delivered the leather. Foxton elected to bat first, and the innings opened with Furrie and Hirini at the wicket., Furrie was given out l.b.w. when his score stood at 15, after a good display, of batting. Afternoon tea was provided by the local team. At the close of tho game Mr Furrie expressed pleasure at the visit of the Levin players, and hoped that it would he the forerunner of many such visits. Next year an endeavour will be made to form a club in Foxton. Mr Keys, on liehalf of Levin team, returned thanks, and said a hearty welcome would await Foxton when they visited Levin to play a return match shortly. He hoped Foxton would affiliate with the Ilorowhenua Association. At the conclusion of the match the scorebook showed that Levin had won the match by a margin of two runs, but this morning the Levin players communicated with Foxton, and intimated that an error had been made in taking down the scores, and that the game had ended in a draw. This sportsman like action, mi the part of Levin is much appreciated by their Foxton opponents.

HE A THCOTE-WILLIAMS SHIELD.

The cricket match for the Heath-f*ote-Williams Shield between Palmerston North High School and Waitaki High School was concluded on the iiecreati.on Grounds, Palmerston North, yesterday. The result was a somewhat easy win for the local boys by an innings and IGI runs. Palmerston had made the line score of -540 in the. first inning-, and when Waitaki had.completed their initial strike yesterday morning their score stood at 274, They followed on. Their good display in the first innings had led to the belief that they would give even a better showing in their next attempt, but, on the whole, their exhiliiiou was rather disappointing, as they compiled only 111. The good bowling of the local hoys and the slate of the wicket probably accounted for their failure to reproduce I heir first- day’s form.
