CORRESPONDENCE
(To the Editor.)
Sir. —Allow me as a visitor to your seaside resold to sav that nalure has been kind to you in providing you with one of the best and safest seaside health resorts in Xew Zealand, and it’s up to your local Council to assist nature to make it attractive and easy of access for the convalescent and those who require a brain cleanser and ozone for the lungs. I do not think the Foxton public fully realise the ins estimable asset they possess, otherwise they would boost it and spend money to make it more attractive. I am certain that for every pound spent at the seaside Foxton will ultimately get back I wo. But l am informed that most of Hie- boosting i> done by people outside Foxton. The sand bills should lie planted with marram grass and suitable trees for shelter and beautifying purposes. ■ A kiosk and ageommodation house on (lie lines of the one
at Otnki is urgently needed to provide accommodation and refreshments for visitors who cannot secure cottages for a lengthy period. 1 am sure this would handsomely repay any enterprising man. 1 would suggest that the .school children go to the seaside each Arbor Day and combine tree planting with pleasure. If each child planted a tree each year the place in a few years time would be improved beyond recognition. Then as to transport from (lie railway. Some better service than at present obtains is required. I suppose an electric tram service will be provided when the hydro-electric scheme is in operation, but in the meantime a ’bus should run at regular intervals daily. I think, sir, the Foxton public should wake up to their own in-* forests, and do more to popularise vour splendid seaside. —Yours, cVT., VISITOR.
