LIFE-SAVING REEL FOR SEASIDE.
BEACH COMMITTEE ACTIVE
CONTRIBUTIONS SOLICITED
Air A. G. Dawick, while in Wellington last week, made a visit of inspection to Lyall Bay, with the object of inspecting the life-saving plant at .that resort. The club’s custodian gave full details of - the life-saving plant, and a sketch plan of ihe reel, ele. The estimate of tha reel and 240 fathoms of line is approximately £3O. The Beach Improvement Committee has decided to procure the necessary outfit at once, in view of the picnic parties wliieh will visit the seaside within the next few weeks. Mr Dawick informs us that there will not be any difficulty in procuring men to work the reel. A shed will also be required to bouse the material al a convenient spot. On behalf of the Beach Committee we make an urgent appeal to Ihe Fo.xton public for donations to meet the payment.of the life-saving apparatus, and we feel sure that Foxion will rise to the occasion. Donations may he left at this office, (~)■ with Air Bock, and will be publicly acknowledged. £3O is required within the fortnight; by which time i! is expected that the equipment 'will be ready for use.
