The local picture houses did good business during' the week-end, and on Saturday nighl both houses were packed out. There was also a hip counter altraction in the shape of a circus, which was well patronised.

A special meeting of the Borough Council was held last night to consider the lenders for (lie supply of manholes and sewer pipes, and sinking artesian wells in connection with the water and drainage scheme. Mr 11. R. Climie was in attendance. After dismissing the tenders at some length, it was decided to hold same over for further consideration. It was also decided to seek further information as to the suitability or otherwise of cement pipes for the sewers.
