SACRED CONCERT
There was a large and appreciative audience in the Town Hall on Sunday evening to listen to the sacred concert in aid of the Marlon Municipal Band’s competition fund. The selections by the Band, under the oonductorship of Mr A. E. Satherlev Crozier, were warmly appreciated, ami Marlon is to tie congratulated upon possessing such a wellconducted combination of musicians. All the vocal items were encored. Mr Sheriff’s fine tenor voice was heard to advantage in the numbers (‘Better Land,” “Mountain Lovers,” “Keep On Hoping,” and “I Passed by Your Window”; Miss Gammon’s monologue, “The Last Token,” was a splendid interpretation; Mr Head was in good voice, and gave a fine rendering of the “Last Muster”; Airs Freeman contributed “God Sent You lo Me and “My Task" with pleasing effect.
As a result of the above concert, and the afternoon performance at the seaside, about £2O was collected towards the Band’s competition expenses.
