RACING COMMISSION
VISIT TO ASHHURST,
The Racing Commission —Messrs Fred Earl, K.C. (Auckland, chairman), W. E. Bid well (Featherston), W. 11. S. Moorliou.se (Wellington), J. 11. Williams (Christclnireh), and Major S. Rice (Wyndluun)—visited Aslihurst yesterday. The members were met by Mr P. Hanlon (president), R. McDonald (vice-presi-dent), A. W: Trass (secretary), J. McDonald and D.. McCarthy (stewards), of the Ashlmrst Racing Club. The Commission at once proceeded to the Club’s racecourse, to view the buildings and appointments.
Subsequently the members left in motor cars for Palmerston North, and visited Awapnni racecourse. The Commission, at the necessary (daces it visits, is hearing evidence in support of applications for racing permits., etc. The Commission arrived at Foxton, this afternoon. /
