With the exception of a boy of 15, who died at sea from blood poisoning, the health on board was.good, and there was no sickness. At the wharf, when the Pakelia came .alongside, were many hundreds of people, .and the new arrivals had a particularly warm welcome. They appeared a splendid little community of men, women and children, and they were obviously eager to enter upon their new life. They have come from, all parts of Britain. A large proportion are from Scotland mid Ireland, with the quaintest and broadest of accent.-. Many also are ex-army men, including commissioned officers and their families. ■ Seventy-five “domestics” of a fine type came out under the charge of two matrons.
