STORAGE OF BENZINE

At last night’s meeting of the Borough Council, the Clerk said he had been asked by a representative of the Harbour Board lo ascertain whether the Council would object to the storage of benzine in the Board’s shed at the wharf. Cr. MeMurray said the risk would be the Board’s.

The Clerk said it would be a pity to prejudice the revenue of the port.

Cr. Coley said benzine was stored in considerable quantities by garage people in Palmerston. Cr, Rand pointed out that; Afes>rs Levin and Co. stored benzine in a shed at the wharf.

Cr. Thompson said the ( ouneit had turned down the \ annum tlii Co.’s request to store benzine, and he doubled whether the Couneil, in those circumstances, could give consent to the Harbour Board. It was resolved that it the Harbour Board put in an application the Council would give the matter further consideration.
