A RACECOURSE PEST.
Sentences of two months’ hard labour, oil a charge of theft, and one month each on two charges of as- ~ sault, were imposed on John Thompson, who described himself as a wire jewellery artist, at the Marton Court yesterday. It was stated in evidence that on the Marton racecourse the previous day Thompson yW represent ed 1 o a 4 .tmui_ mi mod >.' J Rosser that he was working a com- £ mission on Adinyrn, and asked if Rosser had a liver. The latter produced £4, which Thompson grabbed and handed to a mate, who made off. Two other men, John Parsons and J. Adams, came to the assistance of Rosser, who has the use of only one arm. „AH three men were struck in the ensuing struggle, hut Adams held on to the aggressor until the-., arrival of the police. Earlier the same day Constable Manley had in- . terviewed Thompson, and made him hand over £5 which he had obtained from another man, and also warned him away from the stewards’ stand. In addilnon to being sentenced, the accused, who is stated to have come from Australia six weeks ago, was ordered to refund the stolen money and pay court costs.
