“The Tong Man,” to he screened to-night, is a startling exposure of 'Frisco's Chinatown, with its Woody “Tong” Avars, and the particular activities of the dreaded “hatchetmen.” Sessuo Hayakawa, the, star, says: “‘The Tong Alan’ is the, most thrilling and mysterious picture I have ever done.”. The picture is a screen dramatisation of Clyde Westover’s widely known book, “The Dragon’s Daughter,” one of the most interesting arid enlightening books'of Chinese life in America ever Avritten.
On Friday nighl/tho popular actress, Anita Stewart, will be seen in the dim, “Virtuous Wives,” a. modern answer to “What is Virtue in a Wife?” A theme, of aggravatingappeal to feminine interest. Picturing in splendorous sellings and by a great east, the story of “Virtuous Wives,” from Jhe two million edition, book bv Owen Johnson.
.On Monday night a .special holiday programme- will be screened, including two star features. One of these stars is "Tom Mix, in “Rough Riding Romance”: It is the story of a princess who, when in peril, calls for aid upon a knightly cowboy, He rescues her and also wins her royal heart. If Mix lives up to the stun! promises for this picture he is going to heat his own remarkable
record. The other feature is a new William Fox photoplay starring Madlaine Tim verse,‘which tells an unusual and thrilling story of the, sea, of a fair girl who can master mutinous men but not her own heart. This picture, “The Hell Ship,” will give some unusually beautiful sea scenes, having been lilmed on a ship on the Pacific Ocean off Catalina Island and in San Francisco Bay.
