MR. F. TIOOKEK AGED 07 YEA its.

We regret ( o.,record llu* death of .Me F. Hooker, which took piece at his residence, Pobinson Si reel, on Sunday morning. Tlie lale Air Hooker laid been ill for the pa>( few inonttis, and last week suffered an allack of paralyse, which culminaled in his death. The lale .Mr Ho offer was (he (bird son of Air and Airs Thomas Hooker, of Carterton, and was born in Victoria in 1853. He came to Hew Zealand wilh his parents as a child, and set I h‘d. in Car'terton, In 1B7(> he returned to Australia, where lie was married at Dailey, -Queensland. In 1595 he returned to New Zealand, and look up his residence in Fox I on, where he has since resided. Deceased was a splendid example of physical manhood. and in Jiis younger days win noted for his physic. 1 prowess. He was quiet and unassuming in manner. and a man of few words, and kept aloof from publie affairs. His home and ganlm occupied all his spare lime. As a workman he gave of his best, and “go-slow" methods were not in his make-up. He leave-, a •widow, three syus am! four daughters, .to mourn Hie dealh of a devoted and affectionate husband and father. The daughters are: Mrs K. Hynes, Foxton, .Mrs W. dray, Palmerston N., .Mrs F. Curtis, Ohakunc, Mrs 8. Wright, .Foxton, and Const able W. Hooker, Palmers!on N., Constable F. Hooker, Auckland, ami Barney, Palmerston N. His brothers tire Mr K. Hooker, Palmerston X., Gins, and Albert, Carterton, and his sisters Mesdmues T. Beard, Carterton, Johnson, Jviokio, and Sheen, Gisborne. There are also Iff grandchildren. y The lasl rites were performed in the home, and at I lie graveside, yesterday by the Rev. Father Forrestal. Despite short notice of the in(errment. a large and representative number of citizens followed the remains to their hmi resting place. The casket was covered with beautiful floral tributes of respect to the memory>»f one who was held in the highest esteem by all with whom he was acquainted. In common with (lie. Foxton public, we extend our heartfelt sympathy to the . widow and family.
