LEVIN-GREATFORD DEVIATION.

ANOTHER CONFERENCE TO UK 11 FLU. *

At the meeting'' of the liorowhenua County Council on Saturday, a letter was received from Air W. H. Field, M.P., in support of the Le-vin-Great ford railway deviation. Mr Field tidded that he knew there was a great influence against the scheme, and he understood a conference was to be held in support of it. The chairman (Cr. Monk) thought if there was to be a conference on the matter the Council should be represented. The Prime Minister appeared to have a leaning to Palmerston North. No doubt, he said, improvements were needed in Palmerston North, but not to the extent asked for. The Council, he thought, should back Mr Field up. Cr. Harkness thought Air Field should be thanked for the interest he had taken.

Cr. Ryder agreed, and urged that the deviation to Foxton should he done in preference to the other. He felt sure the whole of .New Zealand would henelil. and he thought they should avoid unnecessary expend!- ? dure and expense. It was decided to’thank Mr Field, and to appoint the whole Connell as representatives at the conference.
