STATE SCHOOL.
PARENTS’ DAY. Yesterday was day at the local State School, and a iarge number took advantage of the opportunity of seeing the scholars a! work and play, and expressed themselves as highly pleased with the inspection. The various class rooms and corridors were■Jastefulaly decorated with llowers and specimens of the children’s hand work which had won honours at the recent Palmerston and local Shows was on exhibition. The work of the infants, in charge of the Misses Ray, attracted , special attention, and I lie lit lb* one-, seemed to lake
a special delight in their various exercises. As one moved to the up-
per.. class rooms a more serious atmosphere was noticeable, as the pupils grappled with sterner problems. The environment of the class room,-, was in keeping with the standard of studies. Parents had an opportunity to witness the ordinary routine throughout the school. Some products from the school gardens wove on exhibition. On the whole, parents were delighted with the inspection and the courtesy displayed by the staff and scholars.
