NOVEMBER GRADING RETURNS

The following return showing the quantities of hemp, tow and stripper slips graded during the month of November has been issued by the Department of Agriculture:— Hemp. —The total number of bales graded was 0,835, as compared with 11,039 for the corresponding month of last year, a decrease of 4,204 bales. For the 12 months ended 30th November, 1920, the number of bales graded was 90,040, as compared with 100,575 for the previous 12 months, a decrease of 10,529 bales. Tow. —The total number*of bales

graded was 1,535, as compared with 2,504 for the same month last year, a decrease of 909 bales. For (he 12 months ended 30th November, 1920, the number of bales graded was 19,827, as compared with 18,550 for the previous 12 months, an increase of 1,271 bales.

Stripper Slips—During the month 105 halos wore graded, us ooniparcd with nil for the same month of last year. Dor the 12 months ended 30th November, 1920, the number of hales graded was 019, as comparcU with 12 hales for the previous 12 months, an inerease of 007 hales. The following’ are the details of the grading of hemp at: the different porls: — ■ Good High Port. Pair. Fair. Pair.' Com. Auckland 195 487 507 54 Doxton 80 1095 530 18 Wellington 220 1597 ()81 198 Napier 432 Picton 5 Blenheim 79 97 Lyttelton 57 58 Bluff 121 250 55 Sixly-live hales were graded tine at Picton, and 17 hales at poxfon, and 20 at Wellington were rejected. The number of hales graded at each port was as follows: —Auckland 1,243,''-Doxton 1,752, Wellington 2,020, Napier 432, Picton 70, Blenheim 170, Lyttelton 115, Bluff 421. The number of hales in each grade throughout the Dominion was as under, the numbers for the corresponding month of last year being given in parentheses Dine 05 (154), good fair 1,195 (2.050), high fair 3,557 (0,555), fair 1,891. The totals in eaeh gi-ade were as follows, the iigures for the corresponding month of last year being given in parentheses: —First 557 (1,394), second 942 (1,025), third 55 (174), condemned 14 (1).
