COAL AND CEMENT.

The, Minister for Industries and Commerce (the lion. B. dVLce), speaking at the Conference of Commerce at Wellington yesterday, said that cement and coal were commodities that certainly must be obtained. “We absolutely must gel over this difficulty,” he said. “We are restricted now to the barest necessities, whereas cement is required for commercial buildings of all kinds. The position is somewhat better to-day, and I hope we. shall soon give the community the cement they require. If we don’t, I suppose-wo shall have to import it, even at increased ■cost.”
