CHESS.

Five enthusiasts met again last night to further develop their capabilities at the board. Subsequent play showed a marked improvement on the previous week’s play. There was a far better tendency towards combination and plan, those two very essential chess qualities. It is early yet to comment on individual play, but there are indications of strength to be gained by more practice. The players will meet again next Monday, at the same jilaee.
