It appearllnu Ifotierrson iind Whylij. another employee of the company, were motoring from Horoiiu to Hamilton, when the wheel-; skidded in louse sand, and the ear overturned, pinning the occupants beneath. Hubert son was killed outright, but Whyte escaped with a few bruises. Deceased was aged 50, and leaves a wife and seven children. Hastings, Yesicrday.

Jolm Preston, aged G 5 years, formerly a gardener at Maraekakaho, dropped dead in a local stables yesterday afternoon. He complained of feeling unwell, and expired in a few minutes.
